Wim has amazing techniques, leads the academy making sure it has a friendly environment. It’s just impossible not to learn and have fun in his academy. I totally recommend.

I had the opportunity to train for a week with Wim at his gym in Leuven. He is a great coach with a very interesting and methodical approach on teaching BJJ. He also has a great gym and I learned a lot from him

The most remarkable is how he brings his training over to the masses of all ages, and his humbleness is amazing

Wim has been teaching at the BJJ Globetrotters camps for years and is a fantastic instructor. One of the best out there, you will not go wrong if you sign up for Jiu Jitsu in this place.

Wim’s teaching is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. He makes BJJ to be as effortless as possible. “Maximum efficiency – minimum effort” has really became his motto and it shows. Now I have a lot of things to unlearn Oss!

Great professor, perfect techniques!

Very technical, analytical, structured and friendly approach to BJJ, great coach and competitor.

Amazing bjj coach, passionate and totally in love with his job. Crazy workaholic, 99% of his life spent on the mat

Es un excelente profesor, persona y amigo.. recomendable al mil

Great coach, great club and the best man to learn Bjj from , but most of all he never gives up to motivate people. To never give up. No matter What age you are !!!! Come and train with this man and it will change your life! Respect!

Wim Deputter is not a mere black belt. He is a surprising black belt with a very specific approach to BJJ. Things he teaches may turn usual viewpoints on the art of bjj. Highly recommend!

I traveled from the US specifically to train with Wim and his team for a week and it completely changed my view on Jiu-Jitsu. Wim’s approach is effective and innovative. Even though he’s an accomplished black belt already he always strives to evolve his techniques. His students are outstanding and the whole atmosphere is very open and welcoming. I felt right at home on day one and can’t wait to go back.

Wim is one of the best professors I’ve met. He is teaching you not techniques but principles and connections , and he is doing this honestly and not hiding anything. You can feel it.
Also another thing is, he is looking to grappling as a martial art too and not just a bjj tournament. This makes a huge difference if you know what I mean.

Wim is a great and very knowledgeable coach: able to transfer his knowledge to beginners as well as advanced BJJ students.

If you want to know details and the ‘why’ behind techniques look no further. Wim takes you step by step through the movements with patience, improving your whole game at once. You will enter the realm of movement underlying all techniques. World class teaching by a world champ.

Great teacher, great personality, very friendly guy. Makes you always feel welcome, gives his attention to everybody, and makes you feel part of his BJJ family. I am happy to know him as a person, and proud to have him as my trainer.

Exceptional coach who conveys not just technique but also concepts very well!

Thank you for a very tough course
Me and my gym buddies got a huge bag of new knowledge. The way you teach was so easy to understand and simple to learn. I never heared before.
At the beginning I didn’t feel like passing the course or catching some new information but from the first minutes I understood that ‘this is it’
Take care and don’t forget us! Sincerely you’re Prime club Ivano-Frankivsk.

Spent a week training at Brasa with Coach Wim. Had a great time with high quality training. Definitely a recommendation for Jiu Jitsu Nerds who want to get deeper into the Art. It wasn’t the last visit for sure.

Very friendly and respectful gym. I know Wim for a while from the Bjj Globetrotter camps but had never visited his gym. I took one of wim’s classes and was not disappointed. Great technique explained in an easy and logic way. With a lot of attention for detail. Very clean gym with quality mats and great people. If you are in the area don’t hesitate to visit!

I would definitely recommend this gym to everyone. Very friendly and respectful environment. You can train 7 days out of 7 and on some days, if you want, you can do even 3 sessions. The quality of the teaching is very high. Here I have learned important concepts and details which I will bring with me forever. If you are in Belgium and have the possibility to train with Wim you have to do that!! If I was In Belgium,I would definitely train there!! I am really glad my BJJ Journey started In Leuven.

Fantastic coach with a true knowledge of the art and this comes across in his interaction with his students and the attention to detail in the lessons.
If you are nearby don’t hesitate to train here. You won’t be disappointed.

Visited Leuven for this gym – was really happy with how amazing the place was
Really welcoming people, fantastic instruction (all coaches taught techniques very thoroughly with lots of good details), loads of sparring, and plenty of clean mat space.
Awesome women’s class too, with a good turnout (photo here!)
Thanks for welcoming me to your gym for the past couple days! Had loads of fun training to my heart’s content

Without a doubt the best academy in Belgium with Bjj coach Wim Deputter who is an incredible technician and who goes into the smallest details and also been competing in Belgium , Holand and the whole of Europe for years. Also High level Wrestling with coach Visrael khamiev who is a really good wrestling coach and competitor and also a black belt in Bjj. The gym is always clean and there are trainings all day everyday. If you come to Belgium and want to train BJJ, this is the place.

I had an opportunity to train here 2+ times per day for a week. I can’t say enough good things about the level of instruction and quality of training partners. Even though I walked in as an almost complete stranger, I felt like a part of the family. I have noticed that others were also treated this way. If you live or happen to travel through Leuven, be sure to check out this gym.

Really really nice gym, always clean and well maintained, classes all day every day, loads of people to train with and Wim is one of the best coaches out there!! Very accommodating to people who only speak English too.

If you want to learn about what the art and philosophy of BJJ is, this is the place to roll in Belgium, without any doubts. Oss

Wim Deputter is a super nice man. His deep understanding of the technique and concepts and also his dedication to the gentle art made him one the best professor i’ve met. The dojo is nice, the team is really friendly and high level. A great place to learn and train BJJ

Highly recommended gym, trainer and training partners for self defense!

Given by Wim Deputter, great coach for adults and kids.
And a lot of variation of fighting disciplines, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, grappling, Thai box, mma etc.
I recommend to give it a try.

Great training, great hospitality, i felt really welcome. Wim has given me some great tips. It was nice to roll with him. We will be back if we come to Leuven again

Great coach, fantastic understanding of the game and has produced a gym full of very talented jiu jitsu practitioners and athletes! We were welcomed with open arms when we came to visit by Wim and all of his students. If I lived there, I’d train there!

Wim is the best bjj coach I have ever had. He can give a great piece of advice not only about a particular technique, but also bjj in general.

Wim is a super-technical ground wizard & an absolute gentleman.

Hi sir, I just wanted to thank you for your videos. I truly appreciate what you are sharing and how effective it is and I use it every day that I train.  If more people tried it and trusted it then it could improve anyone’s skill set. I teach it to my students and it is helping all of them a lot so keep up the great work and amazing videos! Thank you!

Mr. Deputter your mirroring principle series of DVD’s changed my game. Made breaking into the sport as a fresh white belt a lot easier.

I really liked this podcast. The part about how BJJ is usually taught vs how it should be taught resonate strongly with me. As someone with professional teaching experience, it frustrates me immensely that most BJJ teachers can’t differentiate between true fundamentals and ‘simple moves’. The fact that many of my peers only started improving at BJJ after learning actual fundamentals from the internet says enough. It also makes me sad knowing no one new will join our gym during those weeks where we do DLR in fundamentals class. I’m happy that Wim is one of the few gifted teachers to really know what it takes to teach people how to train for the rest of their lives. Looking forward to working through the remainder of the
Mirroring Principle dvd. Thanks Wim, I would love to pass by when it’s all over!

Please do yourself a favor and get Wim Deputter’s material on bjj fanatics. I absolutely frustrated a higher belt today strictly with Wim’s defensive mechanisms. He went 300 % on me and I was able to survive a whole round without tapping. He is seriously so underrated and deserves more credit

Wim Deputter fan over here. He’s got a YouTube channel of his own plus the seminar sessions he teaches through BJJ Globetrotters on their channel. His videos always make me learn, and leave me with concepts and ideas that if I’d take the time to consider fully and implement, would change all of Jiu Jitsu for me. His stack pass videos, and my goodness the baby bridge and mirroring content. I’m working through the “offensive defense” now and picking up lots.

Wim’s concept on mirroring is something I’ve never seen before. I’m still playing around with it but I can say even just a few of his concepts helped me while in side control last week.
I was pinned and getting smashed, felt the awful suffocating feeling coming on but just by implementing baby bridging that pressure was gone or at least made manageable. I believe I would have gotten to my knees if the buzzer hadn’t sounded.
This series will require multiple viewings and even more on the mat practice to get the feel of the movements required, but it’s looking like a game changer at this point. Really looking forward to getting a solid understanding of it.

The longer I train, the more I appreciate learning concepts that I can apply in many situations. I’d say Wim’s work is a great combination of concepts supplemented with specific situations that will give you a widely applicable set of tools that you can use in many scenarios. I’m still scratching the surface, as there is very deep stuff here.

I have seen other “pin escape” dvd’s and other defensive bits and pieces on other instructionals but this one is the best. The concepts are easy to remember when you are under a big guy trying to escape. Instead of showing 100 escapes, he shows you simple concepts, variations and examples. It starts a little scattered and long winded but it all clicks and does not get boring.

I am senior black belt from Italy., I’ve seen them all. Only rarely you find an instructional video that drastically makes you Jiu Jitsu better. This is the case. Buy it.

Love this instructional video. Prof Wim is really good at explaining how the body works. Just some simple adjustments using baby bridge at bottom side control and I can see a HUGE difference in energy efficiency (rolled in gi). And this is just a part of his instructional! This together with Prof Leite’s coyote half guard as well as Prof Priit’s turtle and panda series is a good combination! I learned a lot from this instructional.

Amazingly powerful stuff!
As a white belt I often felt as though it was ‘game over’ as soon as my opponent, especially a higher belt or just a heavier opponent, would pass my guard or achieve an advantageous position over me. Wim Deputter proves anyone who thinks that way wrong, big time. These are the foundations you need to turn defence into attack. The beauty of Wim Deputter’s system is that it’s useful for any level of bjj practitioning. And Wim Deputter never loses touch with the self defence aspect of bjj, which is absolutely a plus for me personally.

This instructional is great! Wim’s concepts are easy to understand and already helped me improve my game. Like anything, it takes practice to master but when I manage to implement it, bjj becomes easy and my postures feel powerful.
Wim is the only one I found that articulate clearly the mechanisms behind timing, connection and movements. It really helped me understand better the overall bjj game and I feel like I won’t need much more fundamental instructionals after that. I’m looking forward to his next videos!

I’ve had the chance to train with Wim. He practices what he preaches. His game is truly effortless and he wears out more athletic players at the highest level, thanks to his deep understanding of connection, posture and framing. And while it does take a mental effort, especially to ‘unlearn’ some of the things you were not doing correctly enough, I believe this approach can be learned by anyone who is willing to put his or her mind to it, with great returns.

Wim has some amazing concepts about defense I haven’t seen before. This is less about specific techniques and more about conceptual ideas on how to stay safe. It’s original, makes a lot of sense, and the information is conveyed in an understandable fashion. It’s obvious he is a master teacher. I can’t wait for more!

You cannot go wrong buying any instructional video from Wim Deputter. He excels at simplistically explaining and showing you how to use the structure of your body’s musculoskeletal system through the multiple concepts and techniques he teaches to substantially increase force (strength) and leverage without having to significantly engage your true muscle strength. As a 59 year old small man no gi grappler employing his systems have been game changing. I’ve only looked at a couple of snippets of this video on line on Facebook last night but I already used his back escape concept of forward hip hinging and grabbing the feet and reverse from back control. Not only that he’s a really nice guy and when you text him with questions he writes you back or sends you a voice message like he did today before I rolled. Though we’ve never met in person, I consider him to be one of my coaches.

Wim’s teachings are priceless. I saw him rolling with my own eyes vs another solid black belt and applying all those techniques. My jaw dropped in awe. This is excellent stuff which I’d recommend any time, any gym, to anyone – whether you are a beginner or a confirmed black belt.

Wim’s style is patience: every inch you give him, you’ll never get back, and eventually you tap. These are clear and useful insights in his way of fighting.

Love the conceptual thought process and teaching. Less about “put your foot here and then arm here.” Really good teacher.

I am also taking a more and more “principle based” approach to grappling based on the works of Jitsvulcan Priit Mihkelson and Wim Deputter BJJ and others.  The basic postures are like tools, + the mirroring principle is like a map/schematic + groundedness is the basic science/technology/skill that underpins your tools and map.  Anyways it makes me see how it is possible to train into old age and probably push a lot of young people for a long time while not getting injured or burnt out or dogmatic.”
